March 2017: North Arlington Challenge Ride!

**March 2020 Edit: this is a hilly route**

Another 70 degree Saturday? Let's ride!

We're going to tackle an area of Arlington that is NEW to Kidical Mass, primarily because it is hilly. We have scoured the neighborhoods for a route that meets the "no hills over 5% grade" guideline, but there's still a lot of not-too-steep climbing for our standards. It's going to be a challenge, but one we can meet. Plus, we get to ride on a secret connector trail AND a new-to-Kidical Mass Trail.

We'll meet at Chestnut Hill Park, on Harrison Street just north of 27th St N. We'll tackle the hills, enjoy the pleasant Rock Spring Trail, then head back up to Lee Harrison shopping center, where we will have earned a stop at Duck Donuts. Families may want to stay for lunch - between Pie Tanza,  Sushi Zen, Elevation Burger and the other offerings, there is a lot to choose from.

Again, it will be hilly, and there will be some streets that we'll have to be careful crossing or turn onto. This will be difficult for a Kidical Mass ride, bring water. We'll still be no-drop.

When: Saturday, March 25, 2017 Meet at 10:00am (we'll play at the playground for a few minutes, aim to roll out a little after 10:15am)
Meet:  Chestnut Hills Park;  (look for the cargo bikes)
End: Lee Harrison Shops

Parking is easy on neighborhood streets. The ride back to the start is short and easy. All
are welcome.

The Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19749469

The ride should be moderate-to-difficult for Kidical Mass -- a bit over 3 miles with hills. A couple unsignalized crossings of bigger but not major roads.
